  • Nov. 2 through 5 — Cirque Italia: Water Circus located under the blue and white tent in the Salem Civic Center’s parking lot (1001 Roanoke Blvd, Salem).   • Nov. 3 through 5 — Muddy Squirrel Fall Frenzy 2023 at Camp Bethel (328 Bethel Rd., Fincastle). Solo competitors and/or teams will use a map and compass to search for up to 20 control points placed in the woods and fields around Camp Bethel. Competitors have up to 6 hours to find as many points as possible and return to the start/finish. Total length of the entire course is approximately 10-12 miles, but that will vary widely based on how many points you find and how you find them!   • Nov. 3 through Dec. 3 — Art exhibit: “Out of Hollow Green Stuff Woven” by Amelia Salisbury and Derek Mueller  at Olin Hall Galleries at Roanoke College (240 High St., Salem). “Out of Hollow Green Stuff Woven” is an exhibition reflecting two artists’ relationship with a place called Wonder Hollow. Their images document and trace the daily edges of weather, chart a pollinator’s carousel, and frame as placemats a dream soup of domestic and land-based rituals and wanderings.
