Letter from the Editor: We Need Help from Local Businesses and Residents. Will You Join Us?
Dear Reader:
With Sam Worthington’s departure to Montana, we are renewing our search for a dedicated ad sales director. And we need your help spreading the word about this job opportunity to help us grow.
Support from local businesses — through sponsorships and advertising — is critical for us to continue providing the kind of hyper-local and investigative journalism that Roanoke has come to expect. If The Rambler didn’t exist, the community never would have known about toxic workplace claims that rocked city hall and led up to the resignation of the Roanoke city manager; a judge’s formal suspension by a state agency after allegations that he traded legal aid for sex; and financial issues that have put the public bus system at risk.
When it comes to advertising, you will notice recent changes to our website, with the addition of some banner ads on our homepage, as well as a dedicated spot for our sponsored content posts. For the time being, these banner ads are sourced from across the web marketplace, and we appreciate your patience as we manage them. But our intent is to partner with local businesses who can share their stories in those spaces. Your business or organization can find our updated media kit containing various sponsorship opportunities here.
Since our founding in September 2021, The Rambler has become a leader of local and investigative journalism in Roanoke, experiencing tremendous growth, with approximately 5,000 newsletter subscribers today.
But we need your help. Our viability relies on the local business community and readers who contribute at the member, patron or angel levels. We need financial support from the entire Roanoke community — businesses and residents — so that we can continue to publish hyper-local and investigative news that makes an impact in Roanoke and beyond. Will you join us?
Thank you,
Henri Gendreau
